Queuing is an essential part of a passengers journey. Our airport barriers are widely used across the aviation industry and enable both passengers and site personnel to move safely.
Whatever your operational and commercial objectives, we have a range of airport barriers to meet your needs. Along with the original Tensabarrier®, we also supply queue management barriers from QueueWay, and elegant rope barriers from Lawrence to customers across Europe.
While members of the public generally expect some element of waiting at check-in desks and security, particularly during peak holiday periods and operators are well aware that positive airport passenger experiences matter.
Tensator’s retractable queuing barriers are designed to make the most of any available space to make airports safer and more accessible. This, in turn, creates new commercial opportunities, since a shorter wait gives people more time to browse retail or food and drink outlets. Our Lawrence® rope barriers add a touch of style to any environment – whether at the entrance of a first-class lounge or welcoming VIPs and dignitaries.
When managing queues in airports flexibility is key, which is why our airport safety barriers can be quickly configured to suit operational demand. An unsafe area, for example, can quickly be cordoned off to prevent injury to staff or the public. Durable webbing can also be adapted with airport or airline branding, or safety messages.
As well as guiding passengers through the terminal, our airport queue management barriers work alongside impactful airport queue signage that enables you to deliver promotional messages, along with information that helps reduce airport security queues, such as reminders about the hand luggage liquid rules.
If there are areas that you need to temporarily restrict access to (like closed gates) or are only open to authorised personnel (like staff-only areas), then wall mounted retractable barriers can help you to manage this. You can simply fix the mount to the wall and the webbing retracts and connects to a tape-end on another fixing point.
Built with safety in mind, our retractable safety barriers are easily deployed in restricted and/or hazardous areas, for instance, while building or maintenance work is being carried out. Taking steps to prevent accidents means you’re able to deliver positive customer experiences and reduce workplace transport hazards, avoiding costly compensation claims and the reputational damage that can follow.
All of our retractable barriers could also reduce the risk of harm and ensure the orderly exit of passengers in the event of a major incident like a fire. Airports are also advised to use panic break tape ends on the Tensabarrier so that people can escape quickly by removing the webbing.
Accessible for all
Our Tensabarrier® Universal Base is designed to take the stress out of air travel for disabled or less mobile passengers, even in crowded environments. It has a bevelled edge that measures just a few millimetres in height, allowing wheelchair-users and those travelling with pushchairs and suitcases to roll over them. They are also designed to reduce trip hazards for anyone without wheels, including people who use a white cane or mobility aid.
Custom printed webbing available
We offer a custom printing service available on all of our Tensabarrier® webbing. This means you can add a custom graphic, branding, or message to your retractable barrier. This could help you to reinforce safety messaging, help passengers enter the right queue or just help to make your queue more exciting and on-brand.
Highest quality belt
The Tensabarrier belts are significantly thicker than other retractable stanchions, since they are manufactured from 0.89mm military grade fabric. This means they are less likely to deteriorate over time.
Perfect height
The Tensabarrier® has been developed to make sure it is at the optimum 970mm in height and is intentionally shorter than similar products to stop people climbing over or going under it. With a lower centre of gravity, it is also more difficult to knock over and less likely to catch on passengers bags and clothes.
